Will we be seeing the console in 2020?

Despite the production setbacks caused by the corona pandemic, Sony is standing firm with its proposed release date ballpark of ‘Holiday 2020’ (December 2020).

We’re still not quite ready to preorder yet, although that is expected to change within the next week or so according to leaks from the Sony camp.

Will it be released in KSA the same time as USA?

Probably not, although it might not be long after.

Traditionally Sony has favoured a staggred release for its consoles, dropping into the North American market first, followed by PAL regions (Asia, Africa, Europe, Middle East, South America and Oceania) a few weeks later.

If everything continues to run on track, we could be seeing PS5s selling out of stores in the Kingdom as soon as the end of December 2020, or the start of January 2021.

How much will it cost?

Ahh the big question. We won’t know for sure until the preorder system is live, but thanks to hints from retailers and certain developers we can be fairly certain prices will be somewhere between SAR2,300 to SAR2,800.

Depending on how many add-ons the console comes, and as you can see from the official images – at least two versions of the console will be released, one ‘digital-only’ without the CD drive.

What games will be available at launch?

Again – we’re waiting on the final confirmed list of what games will be released with the PS5 at launch. But we do know a lot about what games will be arriving around that time,

Already tabled for 2020 or early 2021 release are:

Assassins Creed: Valhalla; Spider-Man: Miles Morales; Horizon: Forbidden West; Kena: Bridge of Spirits Ghostwire: Tokyo, Hitman III; Pragmata; NBA 2K21; Watch Dogs: Legions; Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege; Bugsnax Deathloop Jett: The Far Shore; Project Athia; Returnal; Solar Ash Stray; Gran Turismo 7; Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart; Oddworld: Soulstorm;  Astro’s Playroom; Demon’s Souls; Sackboy: A Big Adventure; Destruction Allstars; Godfall; and an updated GTA V.
